Modern day volleyball has become faster paced and harder hitting as rule changes have encouraged the development of more aggressive offensive attacks and devastating jump serves. Volleyball was first introduced to the Pan American Games in 1955 in Mexico City and it was only introduced to the Summer Olympics in 1964. Canada did not enter a team to the Pan Am Games until 1959 where the men's team placed 6th that year. In the 1995 Games in Argentina, the women had their best placing when they won a bronze medal. In 1999, the men had their best showing by winning a bronze in Winnipeg.
